When you think about pavers, you probably think about patios. These versatile materials are perfect for building a patio you can use with your family and friends. While concrete is popular because of its low price, brick is just as readily available and affordable. The pavers are easy to install and use, letting you accomplish a simple project in a single weekend. While you can build a patio from pavers, check out some other ideas that help you incorporate your favorite pavers.
Build a fire pit
Imagine the fun you’ll have hanging out with friends and family while you roast marshmallows and enjoy the warmth radiating from a private fire pit. Building one is easy when you have concrete pavers. You’ll start by digging a hole in your yard for the base of the fire pit and using gravel to line the bottom and sides. A tool that tampers the ground is essential for this job. You then place a layer of pavers around the sides of the pit, tamper them into place, and add more gravel to fill in the gaps. Keep adding more layers to make the fire pit as tall as you want it.
Add garden beds
Raised garden beds work well in most yards and allow you to grow your favorite plants. You can even set aside one for an herb garden to grow fresh herbs for cooking. Brick and concrete pavers both work for this project. Similar to the fire pit, you’ll want to remove the top layer of the soil first and tamp the ground. Add a layer of pavers and enough gravel to fill in the gaps between them. It’s usually best to have two or three rows of pavers stacked on top of each other, but you can add even more layers. Just make sure you add enough dirt or soil to keep the pavers from falling over before you plant.
Create outdoor furniture
Did you know that you could use pavers to create outdoor furniture? This is a fun paver project that won’t blow your budget. Some companies make project kits that include instructions on how to put together a bench, but you can also design a custom bench. You usually arrange the pavers in rows and stack them to build the base of the bench. Changing the position of the pavers helps you create a back to the bench along with the sides and armrests. You can make the bench small enough for one person or large enough to accommodate multiple people.
